Art Brussels 2025 Opens its Doors with an Exceptional Programme
This is arguably one of the most anticipated events of the international art calendar. From April 24th to 27th, the 41st edition of Art Brussels gathers 165 galleries from 35 countries in a programme structured in five sections: Prime, Solo, ’68 Forward, Discovery and Invited. Besides featuring the work of over 800 artists, the fair enriches its programme with a selection of artistic projects, highlighting all forms of contemporary art.
This 2025 edition sees the birth of two new initiatives: The Screen, a program dedicated to video art featuring a selection of works by Eliel Jones (Curator of Performance and Time-based Media at KANAL-Centre Pompidou) and Brussels-based filmmaker Alex Reynolds; and Monumental Artworks, an exhibition featuring large-scale installations curated by Carine Fol, an expert in art in public spaces. These commanding installations will enhance the fair’s visual landscape and offer visitors a dynamic encounter with works that push the boundaries of scale and presence.
During the preview, artist Thomas Verstraeten was awarded the Discovery Acquisition Prize, sponsored this year by Moleskine. The artist, represented by FRED&FERRY, scooped the prize for his video work URBI ET ORBI (2024). The 68 Forward Prize 2025 was bestowed upon Ewa Partum, from Ewa Opalka Gallery, while Julien Creuzet, represented by Mendes Wood DM, was announced the winner of the Solo Prize 2025, supported by The Merode. The 75ᵉ anniversary of the Belgian Art Prize will also be marked with the special exhibition Back to the Future, housed in the fair’s Stibbe Lounge. As for SOFAM, it will honour the artists awarded by the recently created Pomona Art Prize.
At the launch of this rich programme, we met the members of the Solo 2025 jury Mirjam Varadinis, Jérôme Sans and Bruno Verbergt, alongside
