Marta Sala Éditions Celebrates 10 Years at the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi with an Author Exhibition
In the heart of Milan, amidst the enchanted rooms of the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, Marta Sala Éditions celebrated its ten years of activity with a special evening that united design, memory, and beauty. The occasion? The opening of the exhibition The Secret Soul of Useful Things, curated by Federica Sala, which brings the Renaissance heritage of the museum into dialogue with a new collection by Herzog & de Meuron and other unpublished pieces designed by Lazzarini Pickering Architetti and Federico Peri.
A true journey into the secret soul of useful things, as the title suggests, the exhibition explores the deeper vocation of design: to be both functional and filled with meaning. The star of the exhibition – and the symbol of the evening – was the “Pier Fausto” armchair, a contemporary reinterpretation of the Savonarola model, designed by Lazzarini Pickering. This was a heartfelt and symbolic tribute to Pier Fausto Bagatti Valsecchi, the eldest of the two brothers who founded the museum, who passed away in 2023. A portion of the future sales of this piece will be allocated to support the museum’s cultural and restoration activities.
Amidst frescoes, boiseries, and timeless atmospheres, the event saw the participation of many prominent figures from the world of culture and design: Marta Sala hosted the evening, joined by Carl Pickering, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Federico Peri, Angela Missoni, Camilla Bagatti Valsecchi, Benedetta Tagliabue Miralles, Claudio Lazzarini, Roberto Cacciapaglia, and Edoarda De Ponti, to name just a few. The evening paid tribute to the legacy of the past, projecting it into the future of Italian design. All this, of course, in true Marta Sala Éditions style…
